Latest reviews of Hong Kong Taxi Translator app for iPhone and iPad

Very helpful to get around in Hong Kong
Makes life so much easier if you do not speak Chinese. And if you have visitors you can mail or text them the taxi card. Really cool!
Basic info missing - do not purchase
Four of the first six locations that I entered into the app were missing...the building I live in (Bamboo Grove) and the road that my sons school is on (Nam Long Shan Road). Also kissing are Pak Tam Au Road (the start of the MacLehose Trail) and Sha Tin Pass. These are all popular locations that should not have been overlooked. This app is obviously a money grab by someone who was too lazy to do their homework. The worst part about it is that the developer actually lives in Hong Kong, a few blocks from my building! Unbelievable.
Needs improvement
Data accuracy and coverage needs improvement, Ive been taken to wrong places due to bad data. Centamap much better for showing accurate destination in Cantonese.
Not great unless they start updating and adding
Too limited and missing too many places.
Ive Wanted This For Years
I always try to know the Cantonese names of the places Im going to but very often the taxi drivers have problems understanding my terrible accent. Yes, its true its not complete but theres plenty here to start with an apparently they update the database from time to time. Each time Ive shown the taxi card to a driver hes been impressed and instantly understood where I wanted to go. For 99 cents its well worth it. Request to developers: push out a notice to users when theres an update on the database to download?
